ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOFING

The most trusted roof for Midwest homes. Architectural and 3-tab asphalt shingle installation, repair, and replacement across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Asphalt shingles cover more homes in Illinois and Wisconsin than any other roofing material, and for good reason. They are affordable, they come in every color and style, and when they are installed right, they hold up beautifully to Midwest weather. Salazar Roofing installs, repairs, and replaces asphalt shingle roofs for homes across both states, using quality materials and the kind of clean, careful workmanship that makes a roof last its full life.

Architectural vs 3-Tab Shingles

There are two main types of asphalt shingle, and the difference matters:

  • Architectural (dimensional) shingles are thicker, layered, and heavier, giving a richer, dimensional look and a longer lifespan. They stand up better to wind and are the most popular choice for homeowners today.
  • 3-tab shingles are flatter, lighter, and more budget-friendly, with a clean, uniform look. They cost less up front and remain a solid choice for many homes.

We install both and will help you weigh the look, the lifespan, and the budget to land on the right one for your home.

Asphalt Shingle Repair and Replacement

Whether a few shingles blew off in a storm or your whole roof has reached the end of the line, we handle it. Common shingle work:

  • Replacing missing, cracked, curling, or blown-off shingles
  • Repairing leaks around flashing, valleys, and penetrations
  • Matching new shingles to your existing roof as closely as possible
  • Full roof replacement when repairs no longer make sense

What Are the Signs Your Shingles Need Replacing?

A shingle roof tells you when it is wearing out. Watch for these signs:

  • Curling, cupping, or buckling shingles
  • Bald spots where the protective granules have worn away
  • Granules collecting in your gutters and downspouts
  • Cracked or brittle shingles
  • Missing shingles after storms
  • A roof that is simply reaching 20-plus years of age

If you are seeing several of these, it is worth a free inspection to find out how much life is left. Sometimes it is a repair, sometimes it is time for a new roof, and we will tell you straight which one.

What Ruins Asphalt Shingles?

A few things shorten a shingle roof's life faster than normal aging: poor attic ventilation that bakes the shingles from below, standing debris and moss that trap moisture, ice dams from freeze-thaw cycles, and storm and hail impact that fractures the shingle mat. Good installation, proper ventilation, and catching small problems early are what let a shingle roof reach its full lifespan. If you are dealing with storm or hail damage, that is a separate issue we handle, and it is often covered by insurance.
